Pay More For Quality Cheap isn't Always Best
- 31 Jan 2017
The welding market place is flooded with cheaper alternatives to well-known branded machines, many people come on to us looking for these types of machines and whilst they will always have a place in the market there is many reasons that Premier Welding don't stock them.
We are always trying to diversify our product range to not only suit the industry needs and the professional welder but also the hobbyist and amateur. The most important thing for us as a company is to provide a product that has a good warranty, easy access to parts and reliability.
The products we stock are tried and tested, we listen to our customer's feedback and opinions, our engineers know what machines are reliable and what ones cause major issues.
Brands like GYS for example are a good low cost alternative to the likes of Kemppi & Miller, as not only are they more competitively priced, but they also have a service centre in the UK that we send all the machines to be repaired. So far our engineers have been happy with the back-up process, parts are easy to come by and it's gaining a good fan base. However, Kemppi/miller etc is the superior brand and this shows in the build, quality and reliability of their machines.
Of course we can't suit everyone, your budget can sometimes overrule all other points, but we like to work on value for money, we may not be able to offer you the cheapest welding machine however you know when you buy from us your getting quality tried and tested brands, servicing backup and parts availability.
When you're looking at your next purchase have a think about these points:
You'll often get better quality when you spend more…
Whilst this may not be the case every time, more often than not higher quality products/brands end up costing more.
A solid brand or a well-known name will cost more than a lesser known brand and sometimes rightly so, by spending a couple of hundred pounds extra you could get a far superior product.
You'll get something that lasts longer or is more reliable
Generally a machine or item of better quality has a longer life, as more often than not they are made with better components and subject to more rigorous testing during manufacture. This usually means the machine will be more reliable and if it does incur a fault a good brand will have backup and engineers who will know how to fix it quickly and effectively with parts readily available to them.
As a supplier of equipment to many welding companies within Central Scotland, I know that these companies would never entertain most of the low cost machines advertised at crazy' prices, so why should you?
As always we would love to know your thoughts on this, have you spent a little more and noticed the difference, or on the flip side do you prefer a cheaper brand?

Alan
