The NSSW SF-1A is a seamless rutile flux-cored welding wire designed for optimal performance with Argon/CO₂ mixed shielding gas. Its seamless construction ensures exceptionally low diffusible hydrogen content, typically around 2.8 ml/100g of weld metal, significantly reducing the risk of weld cracking.

Engineered for versatility, the SF-1A offers excellent weldability across all positions and demonstrates high efficiency in root passes, especially when used with ceramic backing. Its capability for deep penetration in vertical down welding minimizes imperfections, and it effectively mitigates porosity issues on primed steel plates during automated welding processes, such as those involving fillet welding tractors.

The wire produces a stable arc with minimal spatter, resulting in smooth bead surfaces. Its clean, copper-coated exterior, along with precise diameter and roundness, ensures consistent wire feeding, thereby reducing wear on liners and contact tips. Classified as a grade 3 consumable with impact testing at -20°C, the SF-1A is ideal for general-purpose welding in shipbuilding and structural applications.

Typical all-weld-metal chemical composition includes 0.05% Carbon, 0.41% Silicon, 1.36% Manganese, 0.010% Phosphorus, 0.008% Sulfur, and 0.26% Copper. Mechanical properties feature a yield strength of 530 MPa, tensile strength of 590 MPa, elongation of 28%, and a Charpy V-notch impact value of 95J at -20°C.
